MANdate

Stepping Up - Stepping Out

About Us

In 2012 a group of men from Kingsbridge, South Devon, travelled to Nidderdale in North Yorkshire to attend an Angus Buchan ‘Mighty Men’ Rally in a huge tent!

Listening to this powerful South African evangelist vigourously encourage us to find our identity as Christian men was hugely compelling. That's where  this men's ministry began for many of us.

Not only were we inspired by Angus Buchan’s powerful Christian message, we also witnessed a miracle in the midst of us, when one member of our group, Dave Chapman, was set free from his addiction to alcohol. Dave's story of  his'healing and restoration' is dramatic and  powerful.

In the Summer of 2016 MANdate was born. Ironically the name was suggested by a woman at church! The definitition of a mandate is a ‘given instruction’ but we also chose it as a 'play on words' meaning a group of men  setting a day to purposefully get together ... for a date! It's a a chance to  meet up, to talk, listen and encourage each other.  It usually involves eating and invariably having fun!

Central to everything we do and eveything we are is our journey of Christian faith. We are pilgrims together. We may be weak or strong, saints and sinners, mature or 'just making enquiries,'  but Jesus is at the heart of  all we seek to do.

The first MANdate was a walk in the hot sun around the Snapes Point ; a picturesque headland overlooking Salcombe.

Eight years later we are stepping up and stepping out with our MANdate Conference 2024. This is an informal all day event taking place in Kingsbridge

On Saturday 14th September - Details can be found here.
